LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Hello Spa City Dancers,

Wow, we pulled it off and in top fashion, I might add!!!!  What a wonderful week-end party we just experienced.  I don’t know where to begin to thank those involved. I dare not try to mention names for fear of forgetting someone.  All I know to say at this time, is that I feel so honored to be associated with this dance club and its’ members.  I am convinced that there are no harder working people anywhere, than right here in our club. There was so much commitment, dedication, and organizing put into this event.  After careful planning and hard work over the past 11 months, the results were obvious.  A simple THANK YOU seems so inadequate at this time. Just know that Spa City Bop & Swing Dance Club is a great group of people who care for each other and believe in having fun, and dancing every chance we get. Dancin’ In The Park was a hit, and I truly don’t know what we can do to top it, but we will certainly continue planning to make sure that we continue to have the best dance club around.

The summer is filled with dances and events to keep us all on our toes.  Invite your friends and neighbors to come and join in the fun.

As Always, I am proud to be your Pres,

   Boppin’ Brenda   image00203

Dancin’ In The Park 2009

We want to thank everyone who volunteered to help with our 1st big dance.

There is no way we can mention all that helped with this dance for fear we would miss someone.

It was a HUGE success! And…we could not have done it without you!

Special Thanks to other Dance Clubs who offered their guidance and support to help make

our visitors who came to Dancin’ In The Park have a wonderful time!

And we can’t forget our visitors!  What else can we say…You made our weekend!

We had visitors from 11 states in attendance!  Awesome!!!

It was so nice to meet everyone and do what we all love to do

and that is to…dance…dance…dance!

Thanks To The Austin Hotel & Staff!

We were very excited to have had the location to our 1st Dancin’ In The Park at the Austin Hotel.  It was so fitting with our dance club history. Our club has made a full circle from the club’s inaugural dance on July 12, 2002 at the Austin Hotel, and we went back 7 years later for our first two day dance party!  The Austin was very excited about being the location for our big dance and gave us fantastic room rates and quality service to everyone.

SPECIAL THANKS GOES OUT TO THE FOLLOWING FOR THEIR SUPPORT

I hope we get this Split The Pot booth finished on time!   What about these arches…where will we put them?

image01403   image01603

Now how do we get this upstairs to the 2nd floor?    Are you sure that piece of wood goes there?

image01803

Now that is a finished floor we can all dance on!

We are ready to serve you…hope you are hungry!                           YES!  We are hungry!

    DATE: June 13th

    TIME: 1:30 P.M.

TIME TO MEET PARTY BARGE SHUTTLE AT CLARION: 12:30 through 1:15.

LOCATION: Don Downs' home on the lake, 123 Long Point Court. See directions on next page.

WHAT TO BRING: side dishes & desserts to go with meats; lawn chairs.

We hope you will all come to our Annual Bop Club Luau! There will be good food, games and great people to share in a fun filled afternoon!

The club will be furnishing the meat, soft drinks and bottled water. See Directions to Don’s house.

Directions to Don's Lake House for the Luau

    1. By-pass, take the Carpenter Dam Rd. exit

    2. You will go about 5 miles south on Carpenter Dam Road

    3. When you get to the bridge over the Ouachita River, you are about one mile from Ark Ridge, you will go up and down two hills, at the bottom grade of the 2nd hill is Ark Ridge.

    4. When you get onto Ark-Ridge, KEEP LEFT, The road will take you to the entrance of Garvin Gardens.

Ark Ridge takes a sharp left along the lake.

    5. Ark Ridge after a distance of about a half-mile will take a sharp turn up a hill away from the lake to Long Point. Turn right.

    6. You will go about 100 yards and you will come to a street sign that will say Long Point Court; go in the direction the sign is pointing, which is STRAIGHT ahead. Long Point Court dead ends at Don's house.

Remember - there is no parking at the home area, you will have to park along the side of the road, both sides, or at the top of the hill, all the grown up area is a park, there is no problem parking along Long Point Road. When leaving, you can continue on to Don’s property and there is a turn around by using the driveway and neighbor's so you do not have to back up.  Easiest by far, is to meet at the Clarion Docks and go by party barge. Party barge runs start at 12:30 p.m. and the last run is at 1:15 pm.   See you there!

Spa City Bop & Swing Dance Club Schedules 1st Weekend Party!

Some of you may have heard by now about an exciting event in the Spa City Bop & Swing Dance Club. In February of 2008, the Spa City Bop & Swing Dance Club Board voted on a location and date for the Club’s 1st Weekend Dance Party! It has been scheduled for May 1st and May 2nd of 2009 and will be held at the Austin Hotel & Convention Center. The Austin Hotel is within walking distance to the historic downtown Hot Springs and the famous Bathhouse Row, and only minutes from Magic Springs Amusement Park and Oaklawn Race Track. Hot Springs is a wonderful historic town with plenty of things to do for fun, entertainment, and relaxation, if you choose to mix it in with your dancing weekend.

We are very excited about being able to have this dance at the Austin…it is so fitting with our dance history. Our club has made a full circle from the club’s very 1st dance on July 12, 2002 that was held at the Austin, and now going back for our first two day dance party! The Austin is very excited about being the location for our big dance and they are giving us fantastic room rates and offer quality service to everyone.
